Cane Syrup Candy  (Daddy made this candy when we were little.  Mama always said she couldn't make it as well as he did.)

All I remember is he would take cane syrup and cook it slow over low heat until it would spin a thread; then let it cool enough to handle and put a little baking soda in it and pull it until it got golden and twist it or whatever and keep pulling until you wanted to break it into short pieces.  He would put peanuts in just long enough for them to start popping the skins off (if he put any at all and pour it into a well buttered pan.)
